Postpartum follow-up

My name is Kristen Klemme, and I am a lactation consultant serving Long Island (Nassau County and Suffolk County), Queens, and Brooklyn.  I love helping moms and babies connect and develop their bond.

I have a lifelong passion for maternal/child health, which I began bringing to clients 12 years ago as a doula and which ultimately led me to nursing school.  As a health professional, I found a variety of ways to make a positive impact on moms, dads, and babies.  I’ve worked across all areas of birth as an RN at a major baby-friendly New York hospital – specializing in labor & delivery, postpartum, and NICU care.  But I found even more fulfillment through the direct, one-on-one coaching I brought to clients as a Bradley Method instructor, teaching childbirth education classes out of my home.  When the opportunity presented itself to bring personalized care for breastfeeding, I jumped at the chance to focus my expertise in this area.  I am now an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant working part-time in both the hospital setting and in private practice.

On a personal level, I am also a mom to four wonderful, healthy, breastfed children.  I have personal experience returning to work with young babies at home and welcome being a resource for you on your own personal journey with parenthood.

Helping families achieve their breastfeeding goals is my passion.  Every breastfeeding journey is different, and I am here to help you and your family find your path.  I welcome this diversity and strive to create a safe, inclusive space for families when we work together.  It is an honor to be let in during this vulnerable time and I look forward to working with you.
